It’s February 12th, 2026, and I’m preparing to go on my very first cruise with my significant other (Becky). She’s been ‘cruising’ now for a couple of years. Her sister (Vanessa) invited her to her first one, and the two of them have gone on a number of cruises together since that first one. Their big cruise was just this past year when they flew over to London and picked up a cruise ship in Dover. They toured France, Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Having spent 20 years in the US Navy, and having never stepped aboard a ship/boat/carrier (etc). I didn’t have any pressing desire, or even mild interest in taking a cruise. But Becky has “worn me down” (kidding), and I’ve capitulated, and said I’d go on one.
Becky has taken care of most of the planning for this trip. (It is her super-power) Although, I’ve attached a trip over to New Orleans, LA and then on to Round Rock Texas to visit my daughter (Melissa), and her husband (Nick). So part of the planning (NOLA) I’ve taken responsibility for.
So, we’re a few weeks away from taking off, and I’m thinking that I can use this BLOG site for sort of a vacation log for the trip.
It’ll be interesting to see if I actually stick to posting in any sort of regular fashion or not. (My follow-through has always been lacking at best.)
